Saltwater Shootout and the PBSC Celebrate 20 Years
POMPANO BEACH, FL – Leg 1 of the highly anticipated Mercury/SeaVee Pompano Beach Saltwater Circuit, the Saltwater Shootout is scheduled for May 10 - 13 with one-day of fishing on Saturday, May 12. The PBSC has attracted competitive teams, large payouts, great parties and affordable entry fees to South Florida for the past 20 years. This season, teams can look forward to a series long 20th Anniversary celebration featuring new and returning prize categories, prize giveaways on a 4 foot spin to win wheel and fun for the entire community!
Big payouts are in store for teams fishing the Saltwater Shootout as both rollover categories were left on the table at the end of the PBSC 2017 Series. The KDW Jackpot has continued to grow to an estimated payout of over $47,000 at the Shootout and the Pick 3 is expected to exceed $20,000!
If you aren’t fishing, but still want to be a part of the action, swing by the Shootout weigh-in to watch the teams weigh their catch, grab a drink and listen to DJ Select spin the mix, with the chance to win some great prizes including a vacation package at Hilton Resort World Bimini in the Bahamas. Scales open at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 12th. Sands Harbor is located at 125 North Riverside Drive, Pompano Beach, FL 33062. The weigh-in is open to the public and there is no admission fee.
Bluewater Movements has upped the stakes at the 20th annual Saltwater Shootout offering a guaranteed $10,000 payout to the top team. The big fish categories are even bigger this year with $1,000 up for grabs for the heaviest dolphin, wahoo, kingfish, tuna and cobia. The big fish division dishes out cash for the 3 heaviest fish in each category. With added value categories like a small boat division, non-pro division and a first times award for new teams, there are great opportunities to win for teams at all levels of competition in the Shootout.
New for this year, Bluewater Movements has nominated The Perry J. Cohen Foundation (PJCF) as the charitable beneficiary in the 2018 PBSC series. Perry is a 14-year-old boy who went missing at sea with a friend on July 24, 2015. Despite an exhaustive eight-day, 55,000 square nautical mile search by the United States Coast Guard, Perry and his friend were never found. The charitable partnership between Bluewater Movements and PJCF will focus primarily on Boating Safety Education, one of the four pillars of the PJCF mission statement. Within that, a ‘Safety First’ award has been established together with tournament sponsor, Bass Pro Shops, to present the top junior angler in each leg of the series with a boating safety kit.
Entry fee for the Shootout is $475 per boat plus tax. The kickoff party takes place at the Pompano Beach Civic Center on May 10th from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. Festivities include live music, a world-class buffet provided by Blue Moon Fish Company, complimentary drinks from the Hooter’s hospitality bars and a free fishing clinic for kids led by the IGFA Junior Angler Program. Title sponsor, SeaVee boats is also throwing out some added perks for SeaVee owners as part of their SeaVee Owner’s Tournament Experience held in conjunction with the Shootout.
The awards ceremony will also be held at the Pompano Civic Center on Sunday, May 13th at 2 p.m. with food hospitality courtesy of Bonefish Mac’s Sports Grille and a special Mother’s Day raffle including champagne mimosas for the lady anglers. The Pompano Beach Civic Center is located at 1801 NE 6th Street, Pompano Beach, FL 33060. To register for the Shootout, log on to www.saltwatershootout.com or call 954-725-4010.
